Clean the nails thoroughly with nail polish remover and make sure they are free of grease. The nail polish adheres better to a grease-free nail. File the nails into the desired shape. Push back the cuticles with a cuticle stick. Polish the nails with a polishing file; this will smooth out the irregularities. The nail polish looks a lot more regular and beautiful on a smooth fingernail. Now clean the nails again with nail polish remover. First apply a base coat/ridge filler, this evens out the nails. The base coat protects the nails from discolouration. Let this base coat dry for about 5 minutes. After you have chosen a colour of nail polish, roll the bottle between your hands so that the pigments in the nail polish are well distributed in the polish. Then apply a layer of nail polish and let this layer dry for 5 minutes. Then it is time for layer two, let this dry for 10 minutes. Now it's time for a (quick-drying) top coat, let this dry for another 5 minutes.
